The sweater vest is taking over menswear. For the past two years or so, we have seen the resurgence of the iconic sweater vest coming back not only on trend, but into the highest luxury houses. In my expert opinion, this resurrection of the sweater vest stems from its versatility and I for one am very happy its back and here to stay.

The sweater vest has the innate ability to be dressed up or down as well as being suitable for the streetwear enthusiast all the way to the staple modern traditional gentleman. It can be paired on its own with no shirt underneath for an elevated fashion forward look or paired with your finest suit for a sophisticated evening. Feeling more casual? Throw it on over your favorite classic white tee and your best denim for a very casual but stylish weekend outfit.

Generally associated as more of a “nerdy” style piece or a “grandpa style”, the sweater vest is now reserved for the most fashion conscious men to add to their wardrobe. High end luxury brands from Alexander McQueen to Ralph Lauren have embraced the sweater vest and have made it an essential knitwear piece for every man. The ultimate testimony for the reemergence of the sweater vest is young fashion forward menswear is the embrace of the product in our most fashionable celebrities. From Harry Styles, to Tyler the Creator, and none other than the epitome of a style icon himself A$AP Rocky, have embraced the sweater vest and have each worn it in their own way.
